Golden Gate Bridge
San Francisco, California 2008

Every time friends from Malaysia visit us, a trip to San Francisco is a must! One cannot be in northern California and not visit San Francisco!

So we take them around all the famous landmarks in San Francisco so they can take pictures and tell friends back home that they have been to these places.

Kayaks

These very brightly-colored kayaks outside a marine supply store really caught my eye recently.

Water sports and boating are a big thing in my part of California because there are lakes,  rivers and the ocean close by.

Delta King
Sacramento, California 2008

Last Christmas Doug and I took our friends, Margaret and Patrick, to Old Sacramento. In winter, it gets dark pretty early and that being the case, pictures taken late in the afternoon, don’t always come out the way you expect them to.

In any case, this picture of the Delta King, a riverboat that has been turned into a floating hotel, turned out better than expected.

MacFarland Ranch in Galt hosts a tractor show every year, a show on old farm tractors, that is. It is always a popular show and people come to watch the old farm tractors on display and on parade, and then there’s the tractor pull competition which is always a crowd pleaser.
