Cows in the fog
Galt, California 2009
It was foggy this morning and I decided to drive up that country road where there were usually sheep or goats or cattle grazing in the field.
It was foggy enough and I didn’t dare stop too long because there were always cars passing by.
I found this group of cows grazing in the field and the shoulder on the road was wide enough for me to park safely while I took snapshots of the cows in the fog.

Water, Sun, Trees
Consumnes River Preserve, California 2009
I love the color picture of this scene, but I wanted to see if black and white is any less pretty. The reflection of the sun on the water blinded me a little and I had to move to a spot where the reflection was not blinding me when I took this picture. I love the fact that the blinding reflection is even more pronounced in the black and white! I can’t say if that is a good thing or not – I am, after all, still learning what makes a good black and white picture!

I Love to Climb Trees.

I was reading some comments about converting color pictures to black and white. I know very little, actually next to nothing, about fiddling with whatever in Photoshop to make a good black and white picture.
All I did previously was to turn the image using a photo editor to black and white and maybe darken it a little. That’s about it. With this picture, I tried fiddling with the Hue/Saturation, the Color and Contrast, etc.
I guess there’s still a lot to learn about converting a picture to black and white and give it that special well done black and white look.
