Beaded Slippers

April 15, 2008 By: Puteri Category: Fashion Trends No Comments →

beadedslippers.jpg

This is the latest pair of slippers I got for myself. The weather’s warming up, so flip flops are in order! And I especially love those with beads and sequins!

I don’t know what the problem is with my toes. The last three toes of each foot look red. I was wearing my Skechers shoes to the market one day and by the time I got home they were all sore and looked like they had blisters on them! And they itch too! The more I rub the toes to ease the itchiness the redder they looked!

The last time I was at the doctor’s office I showed my feet to the doctor. He told me my shoes were too tight. Of course they weren’t! They look like you are allergic to something, he then said. That could be true. I was wearing a particular pair of socks one night, and boy did my toes start itching! Could it be the detergent that I washed my socks in? Other parts of my body are not itching. So. I am not sure what is going on, but by wearing slippers, my feet feel better. But the problem is, I have a tendency to kick my toes into something!

Oh well.

Fashionable big bag

April 14, 2008 By: Puteri Category: Fashion Trends 1 Comment →

oversizedbag.jpgLast week I bought an over-sized hand bag. It looks a lot like a tote bag. The bag vendor told me that is the current trend and those that he was selling were fashioned after the designer brands. He even told me the name of the designer the bag that I bought was fashioned after. Er, I can’t remember the name because it was not a name that I was familiar with.

Next week, my family and I will be taking a trip to Disneyland and Los Angeles. I need a bag large enough to put all my necessities as well as a spare pair of flip flops! My feet have been in socks and full covered shoes all winter and the skin is very tender. I can’t see myself on my feet for long periods without developing blisters from my footwear!

The new bag will also be useful when I travel to Asia next month. Passports, air-tickets, book, tissue, lipstick etc. - things that must be within your reach as you travel in the plane.

I like my new bag so much that I am thinking of getting a couple more to give away to my sisters-in-law. I’m sure they’ll love the bags as much as I do mine!

Men’s Spring 2008 Fashion

March 14, 2008 By: Puteri Category: Fashion Trends No Comments →

I am not much of a follower of men’s fashion but I did check out the Men’s Spring 2008 collection. Er, some of the styles are only fit to be worn on the catwalk! I can’t imagine any man actually wearing some of the outfits!

Personally, I prefer men’s fashion to be simple and understated. Classic if you like.

The following men’s fashion are from The Buckler, Lacoste, Z Zegna and Diesel’s Spring 2008 collection.

Do you see your boyfriend, or husband wearing any of the style shown here?

Fabric for dresses

February 22, 2008 By: Puteri Category: Fashion Trends, Shopping No Comments →

Like I mentioned earlier, I was at Joanne’s this morning after my doctor’s appointment.  I walked by and even touched some of the bolts of spring fashion fabric but did not actually stop to handle and drape any of the fabric on myself.

Last year, I made a few summer dresses and even made one for my friend.  The dresses I made were based on two patterns only.      I told myself, the patterns worked, and I had success using them!

It is at times like this, that I wished my good friend, Carol was living near by.  She’s the one who sewed most of my clothes when I still lived in Malaysia.  Of course now, I would only ask her for advice on the use of certain patterns, because I would really like to improve my dress sewing skills.

I still have fabric that I bought for summer dresses from two and three summers ago which I never got around to using. No, none of them looks dated because the fabric looks like linen but isn’t and that linen look is still popular this year.

That was why, at Joanne’s today, I had to steel myself and not buy anything which I wasn’t ready use!

Not your basic pump

February 18, 2008 By: Puteri Category: Fashion Trends No Comments →

trends_thebasicpumpdistantmemory_560.jpg

I tilted my head thinking this shoe was own its side before I realized that that was the style!

Now this is definitely not your basic pump. The shoe was designed by Marc Jacobs, and even if I had never heard of him before, there’s one thing I can deduce about him from this shoe. He indeed is innovative and creative!

If you wear this pair of shoes any where, I am sure you will attract some second looks! I know I would give this shoe a second look! The design is indeed unusual. Err, I don’t think I will wear anything like this any time soon, though.
