I don’t do as much landscape photography as I do close up or macro. The reason being the difficulty in composing and taking good images of the landscape that I am trying to photograph. But the thing is, the more you photograph landscapes, the more you appreciate (hopefully!) what goes into making a good landscape photograph.
Here are some of my attempts at evening/sunset photography.

Little Stream
Bekenu, Malaysia
I took this picture with my little point and shoot. I like my Fujifilm Finepix F10 and I carry it every where in my handbag. It takes very good pictures.
This stream snakes around my father’s little farm house in Bekenu, Miri. It usually overflows its banks when there’s continuous heavy rain and fish from the river would end up in a little pond next to the farm house when that happens. Unfortunately, poachers usually help themselves to the fish, as well as the fruit on the trees on the farm.

Sunset over Highway 104
California Highway 104, 2009

Rancho Seco Sunset
California Highway 104, 2009
It was evening when we drove back home from Ione this past weekend. The sunset and the colors of the evening sky reflecting on the clouds couldn’t be ignored and it was a scene any photographer worth her salt should capture with her camera. We stopped the car, and I got out to take some snapshots.
In the summer, there are not much clouds to speak of in my part of California, and taking pictures of anything with just the clear blue sky in the horizon or as the back drop can be quite boring. Clouds add interest to the sky and during sunrise and sunset they add to the “wow” factor of any picture.

Autumn Lake I
Sacramento Valley Shooting Center, 2009

Autumn Lake II
Sacramento Valley Shooting Center, 2009
I was very happy to have found this pretty lake, located at the Sacramento Valley Shooting Center, to photograph yesterday. It’s not very often that I get to see such a pretty scene like this because there are not that many trees that change color in the fall near where I live, and especially one that is near a body of water, no matter how small.

Cows in the fog
Galt, California 2009
It was foggy this morning and I decided to drive up that country road where there were usually sheep or goats or cattle grazing in the field.
It was foggy enough and I didn’t dare stop too long because there were always cars passing by.
I found this group of cows grazing in the field and the shoulder on the road was wide enough for me to park safely while I took snapshots of the cows in the fog.
