The farmers have been busy ploughing the field with their farm tractors and stirring up the dust these last couple of weeks.
Corn is the main crop planted around here because there are a few dairy farms near here, and the corn is grown for cattle food.
I don’t know what exactly the farmer is doing here. There is a little tanker that is dragged behind the tractor. Is he seeding the field? I can’t be sure because I know nothing about farming!

MacFarland Ranch is a living history museum, and there are several old tractors all over the ranch, and the barn is well preserved.

The Farm Tractor Show is held every year at MacFarland Ranch here in Galt. Tractor owners, especially those with old tractors come from all over the Central Valley of California to display their tractors.
The show begins with a parade of the tractors and the ones that catch my eye every time are the really old ones that have been rebuilt. It is amazing that they still run despite their age. The single piston tractor, built in 1911, is a case in point. It went pop, pop, pop throughout the parade!

MacFarland Ranch in Galt hosts a tractor show every year, a show on old farm tractors, that is. It is always a popular show and people come to watch the old farm tractors on display and on parade, and then there’s the tractor pull competition which is always a crowd pleaser.
