Christmas DVDs

November 14, 2007 By: Puteri Category: Family Life, Movies No Comments →

I just finished ordering four DVDs from Amazon. Three I know the kids will enjoy and the last one is for Doug and me. I am helping my kids to get into the Christmas mood.

They have started playing some kids Christmas videos at their school/day care, and yesterday Duncan was telling Kathy, my friend and the kids’ reading tutor, that “Santa Claus is coming to town!” Haha.

I get free shipping with this order because if you spend over $25, shipping is free.  Amazon is usually very good about shipping out all orders.  This order should arrive in three days.

Bourne Ultimatum

August 05, 2007 By: Puteri Category: Movies No Comments →

Based on this review at CNN.com I might just go see this movie. I haven’t actually seen the previous two from beginning to end, just pieces of it, but I don’t think I will be totally lost if I just watched the third in the series. The last three paragraphs of the review, clinched it for me!

Bourne — or whatever his name really is — is such a resourceful and reckless agent of chaos, we thrill to him despite the fact that he’s officially a non-entity. Matt Damon makes enough of his scarce, terse exchanges with Nicky and Pamela Landy (Joan Allen) to suggest remorse spurs him more than revenge.

Landy in particular comes to figure as a mother-confessor. She’s the only one who understands Bourne’s true nature: blowback.

Which turns “The Bourne Ultimatum” into a thinking-man’s action film. Reflecting a growing apprehension that counterintelligence agencies have overstepped legal and ethical boundaries, “The Bourne Ultimatum” smartly affects kick-ass with a conscience by implying we’ve become our own worst enemy. Who knew guilt could be such a trip?

El Cantante

August 04, 2007 By: Puteri Category: Hollywood Buzz, Movies No Comments →

I think Jennifer Lopez is sexy. I wasn’t that impressed with her P. Diddy days, neither her Ben Affleck days, or even how she ended up with Marc Anthony who was married to a beauty queen before he left her for Jennifer Lopez.

As to her movies, I don’t think there was any that was particulary memorable. As to being a celebrity, she is that, no doubt about it.

One thing about a huband and wife movie, I have never enjoyed that! I did not enjoy Nicole Kidman with Tom Cruise in Far and Away. And neither did I enjoy that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez movie!

But I think I will make an exception for El Cantante. Marc Anthony is nothing to look at. According to Michael Medved’s review, even though Jennifer Lopez is not the lead actor in the movie, her celebrity presence completely eclipsed that of her husband’s.

“Oh, I got calls,” the 37-year-old actor-singer tells Fashion Rocks magazine. “Just friends, you know, giving me the heads-up about working with your partner.”

Who can blame him after what happened to Jennifer Lopez herself and Ben Affleck, also to Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman!
