Portable Heater

January 10, 2008 By: Puteri Category: Family Life, Products No Comments →

radiantheater.jpg

I finally bought a portable heater for my studio. It is the radiant heat kind which means the heat is targeted specifically to the object it is pointing at.

I am now back to working in my studio. Before this the room was unbearably cold. Doug recommended I buy the radiant heater instead of the kind that warms up the air. A small heater is not going to be able to warm up my large studio.

I chose this particular model because of the safety features that come with it. I have small children in the house and I do not want any accident to happen. There were other cheaper models but I told Doug, the paid video post that I did for Packet 8, mostly paid for this one. I only had to chip in another couple of bucks. :-)

The thing about a heater that uses electricity is that it does tend to also increase the amount that comes in your electricity bill! :-)

My massaging cushion

November 27, 2007 By: Puteri Category: Products No Comments →

homedics_therapist_select_shiatsu_plus_massaging_cushion.jpg I bought a Homedics Shiatsu massaging cushion on Black Friday. It cost $99.99, pricey, but I thought I had to have it!

I tell you this thing is as good as the massage chair itself! It is one of the best items I have bought recently! I really love the rolling balls. They knead all the right spots and because I am not a tall person the top part of the cushion knead my upper back really well. I wished, though, the balls could go around the shoulders and do a better job! :-)

The first time I used the massaging cushion, oh boy, did my back feel sore! My back still feels a little sore but it gets better every day. But that soreness is not stopping me from using it daily. The soreness is exactly how I feel after a visit to a masseuse. I like those deep tissue massage where my back feels sore afterwards! That is good soreness! Haha.

I highly recommend this massaging cushion. No wonder Rush Limbaugh is endorsing this product!

My quest for the perfect pillow

August 09, 2007 By: Puteri Category: Products No Comments →

Last year I bought a buckwheat hull pillow from Amazon. Buckwheat hull pillows are popular among the Japanese. When I bought the pillow it was in hopes that I would get a better night’s sleep and not wake up with a stiff neck or a headache in the morning.

The buckwheat hull pillow took quite an adjusting to because it is a little hard and it rustles a lot. It worked for me for quite a while but lately I seem to wake up with a stiff upper back and shoulders.

Two days ago, my husband bought me a pillow by Sleep Innovations that has memory foam on one side and micro-fiber on the other side. It sort of feel comfortable but I think it is a little too thick for me. I still woke up with a headache this morning.

I also have a latex pillow, brought from Malaysia. I remember how comfortable those latex pillows were but the one I bought doesn’t seem to quite do the job. It just felt too stiff. Rubber is supposed to be springy, but it could be the particular pillow I have. I did not buy the most expensive one they had at the store.

One aspect to all this body aches, and headaches upon waking up that I haven’t really considered is that it could be physiological. Arthritis? Osteoporosis? Hope not!
