Missed my favorite TV shows!

April 29, 2008 By: Puteri Category: American Idol, DWTS, TV shows No Comments →

I was away from home all week last week and missed my two favorite TV programs!

I did not watch American Idol where Carly Smithson got booted out. I have yet to watch her performance that resulted in her being eliminated from the show.

I did not watch Dancing with the Stars and missed Marlee Matlin’s performance which resulted in her missing the cut for the next round.

Last night I arrived in time, from my trip to southern California, to watch DWTS. I was sorry to see Kristy Yamaguchi, for the first time, not being at the top of the leader board. Naturally, I made sure to vote for her to keep her in the competition! Mark Ballas, her professional partner, was reminded that it was at that stage that he and Sabrina got booted out of the competition in the previous season. NO! I do not want to see Yamaguchi eliminated! I want to see her in the grand finale!

I hope American Idol will only last an hour today so I can watch the result show of DWTS!

AI: David Cook!

March 26, 2008 By: Puteri Category: American Idol, TV shows No Comments →

Did you see David Cook sing Billie Jean last night? Wow, I am blown away! I have never heard that version of Billie Jean. That version was Chris Cornell’s version. Just who is Chris Cornell?

Anyway, of all the performances last night, I like David Cook’s the best. I was cleaning my face as David performed and did not realize the song was Billie Jean till the last line. Good thing there’s YouTube! I have listened to that performance over and over and I think it was brilliant! The judges agree!

Here’s David Cook, if you missed it last night

DWTS: Mario and Karina

March 18, 2008 By: Puteri Category: DWTS, TV shows No Comments →

Like I said earlier, thank goodness for YouTube! I watched again Mario and Karina, and Steve and Anna. I was a little distracted when these two couples had their turn last night.

I knew Mario was good, but I watched his hip action this time around, and boy is he good! Carrie Ann looked all flushed looking at Mario’s hip actions! According to the judges Mario needs to work a little more on his footwork. Can you imagine once he gets that down to pat, how awesome his dancing will be? I am so looking forward to see more of his dancing!

DWTS new season

March 11, 2008 By: Puteri Category: TV shows No Comments →

This morning I thought I had missed the premiere episode of the new season’s Dancing with the Stars and was pretty upset about having missed it.

It wasn’t until later that I realized that I had got the dates mixed up! I had seen an ad about the new season, and I remembered that it was going to be on a Monday. I thought it was yesterday! Good thing the season won’t start till next week!

I have not seen the line up of this year’s contestants. If past seasons are anything to go by there will be an athlete/sports star in the line up. Only Jerry Rice and Emmit Smith have been successful. The rest were so flat footed that it was a pain to watch them dance! Except for Floyd Mayweather. He wasn’t too bad, but his posture could have been a bit better.

Anyway, I will be having a hard time switching between American Idol and the DWTS results show which fall on Tuesday! :???: I love both shows and I am not happy that one day of the two shows conflict!

Not happy at all!

AI First Result’s Show of Season 7

February 21, 2008 By: Puteri Category: American Idol, TV shows 3 Comments →

The girls had their turn last night and I was most impressed with the performances of Syesha Mercado and Ramiele Malubay.

Tonight was the first results show of the season. I enjoyed the 60s medley the 24 contestants sang. They sounded very professional together and their outfit was sooo 60s! I just love it!

Ramiele was among the most emotional tonight at seeing Joanne Borgella and Amy Davis leave the show. I’m sure she was sorry to see Garret Haley, and Colton Berry leave too. Danny Noriega was the most emotional of the guys.

I think everyone in the final 24 is very talented but at this stage of the competition the right song and staying consistent is the make it or break it for each one of them.

There are now 20 left in the competition and next week will see 4 more leave the show.

If you haven’t seen Ramiele sing the other night, here’s the video.

AI:Top 12 guys

February 20, 2008 By: Puteri Category: American Idol, TV shows 2 Comments →

Last night I watched the much awaited top 12 male contestants on American Idol. I enjoyed every one of them even though it seemed like it was hard to please Simon Cowell in last night’s show.

I cannot get over the fact that Jason Yeager reminds me of Vince Chong. I don’t know if anyone else of you saw the slight resemblance to Vince Chong!

What do you think? Do you see any resemblance?

I like David Archuleta and Michael Johns’ performances last night. I like David Cook’s too! Let’s just say I like all of them!

I look forward to the girls’ turn tonight. I’ll be watching Ramiele Malubay and Syesha Mercado closely because they both impressed me the most among the girls.

American Idol: The final 24

February 15, 2008 By: Puteri Category: American Idol, TV shows No Comments →

I did not miss the last two episodes of American Idol. Last week I was wondering when the contestants would get to Hollywood and my question was answered this week.

americanidolseason71.jpgI really like the final twenty four line up. There are more talented teenagers this year compared to previous years. I was quite disappointed though when Josiah did not make the cut. His Hollywood audition was awful and I felt sorry for him. He is quite talented but in this game, you have to be on top consistent form all the time.

I cannot wait for the final twenty four format to begin. Yes, the stage is smaller but there will be a live audience to lend support to their favorite contestants. The mood is different and I just love the feel of the competition going live!

I like Danny Norriega and David Archuleta. I can just see how difficult it would be for the teen girls to choose between them!

It would be difficult for me to choose between them too!

AI Chat

It has indeed been a while since I talked about my favorite TV program, American Idol!

I have been following the series religiously since the current season started. Last night was no exception.

I thought the pageant queen was not too bad. She could sing as all the judges agreed, and like Simon, I thought she was, err, what was the word that Simon Cowell used with regards to her?

The kid who auditioned last had an interesting story. Can you imagine living out of your car at age 18? I can’t imagine myself doing that!

It was sure odd to hear him sing with a British accent! Simon noticed it immediately. I think this kid is cute and I hope he goes far in the competition.

I don’t know how much longer before those with the golden tickets get to Hollywood. I can’t wait for that phase of the competition!

AI Philadelphia Audition

January 15, 2008 By: Puteri Category: TV shows No Comments →

American Idol Season 7 premiered tonight.  It wasn’t as interesting as I thought it would be.  To be sure there were a few talented singers in the Philadelphia audition but I had expected more.  :-)

Every season there are a few who always think too highly of the “talent” that they have.  Tonight there were two of them.  The girl with the Princess Leia hairdo was so full of it.  She thought she wasn’t selected because she was dorky.

Actually I usually start watching the show seriously when the contestants get to Hollywood.  By that stage all the awful ones are gone.  Those who are left are the really serious contenders.  That is when American Idol gets more interesting for me.

Tomorrow we’ll get to see the audition in Texas.

American Idol News

January 14, 2008 By: Puteri Category: Entertainment, TV shows No Comments →

For his part, Cowell isn’t worried about “Idol’s” future.

“It’s a very, very well-made show that’s got a better cast this (season),” he says. Contestant-wise, “I will go on record as saying this is one of the strongest years we’ve had.”

Full story here.

I hope Simon Cowell is right. He has been right in quite a number of predictions with regards to the success of some of the previous American Idol winners.

I still remember very clearly his prediction about Carrie Underwood. He said that not only would Carrie Underwood go on to win the contest, but that she would win more awards than any of the previous Idols. Those who remembered Kelly Clarkson’s success could not believe that prediction but Simon Cowell was indeed right. How many awards have Carrie Underwood won the last two years? More awards than Kelly Clarkson has ever won, that is for sure!

I am looking forward to the premiere show of American Idol tomorrow. I have even put a yellow Post It note on my computer monitor to remind me to turn on the TV!

I have no doubt that American Idol will be the shining light despite the writers’ strike in TV land. I hardly watch TV but when it comes to American Idol, I try never to miss it if at all possible. I am sure there are many like me out there. Go AI, go!
